Grayson: Five Months Old and Loving it!!

Grayson is a very curious little guy.  He gets bored easier these days, so we decided to get him a new toy in hopes that would help and give us a few more options.  Also, I want him to work on his sit up muscles.  I love the bottom panel of this activity center, it has a little bit of give, so he can jump (which he does A LOT).  He has really enjoyed his new toy and it's so fun to watch him play with it.  It is so neat, the seat can turn all the way around and it didn't take him long to figure that out.  

Sometimes he can't tell which toy he wants to play with more.  He is too cute.  There is a vine looking thing on the other side and he likes to chew on it, but he tends to put too much in his mouth and gag himself, so I have to go extricate the vine.  He certainly does like to chew on things. 

He has also started eating more solids!!  He has tried carrots, sweet potatoes, parsnips and green beans.  He has done really well with eating and he especially liked the sweet potatoes and parsnips.  With eating more, he has definitely been more interested in our food, which makes eating very interesting.  He has accosted our drinks and other things on the table on more then one occasion.

We also finally got him a high chair!  We got one that just sits on a chair we have and it's been very convenient, especially since our dining room area isn't too large.  He does pretty well sitting up in it.  He slouches to one side upon occasion, but he is doing well.  He also like to bend over and suck on the try or his bib upon occasion.  It makes me laugh.

You can't see too well, but the whole tray is covered in rice cereal!  He sure enjoyed playing in it between bites.  He would even suck cereal off his fingers while he was waiting for his next bite.  He still gets frustrated sometimes when I take too long between bites or if he's really hungry.  Overall though he is doing great!  He even makes cute noises now when he eats.  It kind of sounds like he's saying "mmmmm" I love it!  He eats cereal for breakfast and some vegetable or fruit for lunch.  He is really been enjoying all the new foods.  He tries to help sometimes when I feed him and he tries to grab the bowl or the spoon.  After he's done, I usually rinse him off in the bathroom sink.  He gets a big kick out of playing in the water and looking in the mirror.

Can't resist those baby blues!  I love his eye color.  He's getting more mobile on the floor.  He rolls to the left and right and he is pretty good at rolling to get things.  He hasn't started crawling yet, but he will pick his chest off the floor and then pivot himself to get a toy by his side that he can't reach.  Then if it's still too far away, he'll lie his face down, tuck his knees under his butt and skootch himself forward kind of dragging his face along.  It's pretty funny.  I'm sure he'll be crawling in no time!

He also has been blowing lots of 'raspberries' and spit bubbles.  When he gets excited sometimes he'll stick his tongue out and grin, it's one of my favorite faces and I tried very hard to catch it. 

This one is kind of close, but he gets more interested in the camera when I pull it out and so I have a hard time getting candid shots.  He is 'talking' more as well and it is so funny to listen to him.

He has discovered his feet and delights in chewing on them and playing with them whenever they are within grasp.

He has been doing better at sitting up in the Bumbo seat as well.  He throws his toys off really easy though.  Yes, that unfortunate game of "let's see how many times my parents will pick up this toy for me" has already begun.

This teddy bear belonged to Trevor when he was a baby and I thought it would be fun to take some pictures with him holding it.

Father's Day

We had a lovely Father's day, of course.  I was so excited to give Trevor his present, that I had to give it to him as soon as he woke up (hence the slightly disheveled hair).  

Grayson and I got him a Kindle!!  Trevor got me one for my birthday this year and every since then he has had serious Kindle envy.  Lately when I try to find it, it's on his nightstand.  I decided that he would probably prefer to have his own and I was right.  For those of you that know my husband, you know he doesn't show a lot of emotion, so to get a reaction like this, I knew I had done well.

 We had a tasty brunch of scrambled eggs, toast, sausage and peaches.  I love breakfast food.  And since our new ward (congregation) meets at a later time, we have more time in the morning to make a big breakfast.  For dinner, I made a breaded pork chop with a garlic strawberry sauce, mashed potatoes and salad.  It was pretty tasty, if I do so myself.  We were even able to Skype with both of our parents too!  Here are my two boys looking very dashing!

Trevor has taken on a new project, he has decided to build his own road bike.  He loves working with his hand and is very gifted in working with cars, bikes and pretty much anything with wheels.  He found this really old bike on Craigslist for super cheap and was able to take it almost completely apart in one night.

I'll keep you appraised of his progress.  Also, that gives you the first glance of our new apartment.  I will be sure to take more pictures and post them soon.

Moving week and other adventures

 Ok i know it's been a really long time since I've posted, but man have we been busy.  We are completely settled into our new place and it feels like home now.  We love, love living here and it has really been so much more convenient and fits our needs for right now.  But I digress, let me start at the beginning.

My wonderful parents and sweet niece drove up from Alabama Thursday, May 30th, to help us with our move.  After a little detour with car problems, everyone made it safely.  My dad and Trevor put a load of boxes in the rental truck that night.  It was mostly out of necessity, the second bedroom was full of boxes and in order to fit the air mattress for my parents to sleep on, we had to empty a few things.  I was amazed at how fast it went and how far we got.  After getting everything done we possibly could, we took a break and relaxed in the living room.

The next day, Friday June 1st, we were able to move into our new apartment at noon.  We were able to finish packing up everything that was left in the apartment that we had been using during the week and then empty the truck with all the boxes at our new place.  I do really love this slow move thing, it's much more convenient.  That night we had one last use of our apartment clubhouse.  We watched North by Northwest in the theater room and ate some delicious pizza from a local pizza parlor.  It was a lot of fun.

The next day, Saturday morning, we had friends from our ward (congregation) come over to help us load the rest of our things.  I was amazed at how fast it went!  They had everything out and into our new apartment in about 2hrs.  These guys were pros.  How lucky we are to have such kind and generous friends!  

My mom, niece, my friend Meaghan and I were able to get started on cleaning the apartment.  And thank goodness, that did not take nearly as long as I thought it would.  My wonderful friends Tony and Laura watched Grayson for us in the morning so that we could focus on our move.  He had a blast with them and was sufficiently spoiled.

On our way out.  I couldn't believe that it was really time to leave!  We were able to get a decent amount of unpacking done in our new place as well that day.  At least enough to be able to eat and sleep.  

My dad had to head back on Monday, but my mom and niece stayed for a few more days.  We spent most of the time unpacking, of course, but we did take some time to fit in some fun stuff.  We went up to Monticello and had a really good time.  Grayson did a pretty job through the tour, although he did seem to want to contribute some to what the tour guide.  He fell asleep half way through the tour, but he woke up when we started walking around the grounds.

I love going to see Monticello.  The grounds are beautiful and I love old architecture and homes.  It is so interesting to learn about those that have gone before us.  I love all the history that is in our area and the chance we have to visit such amazing places.

My mom made a friend as we were walking through the gardens.  He landed on her camera first and then wanted to catch a ride on her hair.  Luckily he was friendly and left without any stinging.

Had to include this picture.  When Grayson was taking a nap, he fell asleep on his hands.  He must have been in a very deep sleep because he stayed on his hands the whole time and this is what he looked like when he woke up.

Shortly after we moved in, they did some work in our hallway and I had to leave the apartment for the day.  As I was getting ready to leave in the morning, I found out that the work was no longer being done, but I was already ready to go to my friend's house, so I decided to go anyway.  I brought some toys with me and I just happened to have this new ducky toy that my mom had just brought for Grayson.  It was very popular with all the kidos as you can see from the stare down these two are having.  I love seeing kids interact. 

His mom told him to let Grayson finish playing with it before he had a turn.  That didn't keep him from getting as close as possible so he was readily available when Grayson was done.  It made me laugh.
